Official alert areas are not modelled inundation zones. The source country identifies the earthquake, not necessarily an affected coastline. Historical events and monitoring stations can be toggled separately.

Ports from the NGA World Port Index that fall inside the officially published warning areas. A warning area is not a computed inundation zone. This list describes neither damage nor any restriction of port operations.

This is a Tsunami Information Statement for Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. - Event details: Preliminary magnitude 8.0 (Mwp) earthquake / Lat: 7.549, Lon: -80.773 at 2026-10-09T17:56:09 UTC An information statement indicates that an earthquake has occurred, but does not pose a tsunami threat, or that a tsunami warning, advisory, or watch has been issued for another section of the ocean.

Earthquakes of this size are known to generate tsunamis potentially dangerous to coasts outside the source region. The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center is analyzing the event to determine the level of danger. More information will be issued as it becomes available. This earthquake has the potential to generate a destructive tsunami in the source region. Messages will be issued hourly to keep you informed of the progress of this event. Monitoring stations

1863

NOAA DART measures the water column above the seabed; coastal gauges show levels relative to mean sea level. Tides and other processes affect these values. A fluctuation or DART event mode alone does not confirm a tsunami. Gaps are not interpolated. Observations may be delayed or preliminary. The global IOC/UNESCO network aggregates national gauge networks; availability, sampling interval and reference level differ per operator.

The archive shows confirmed tsunamis since 1900 from NOAA/NCEI. Maximum documented water heights combine different observation types and locations; they describe neither a uniform open-ocean wave height nor current danger. Historical coverage varies by place and time.

Understanding tsunami data

What do the alert levels mean?

Warning: dangerous inundation is possible. Advisory: dangerous currents and waves are possible. Watch: a potential threat is being assessed. National authorities interpret international threat messages. An information bulletin is not an active warning. Expired validity is not an official cancellation.

Which areas are covered?

Warning bulletins come from the NOAA centres NTWC, PTWC and NWS, from the European Commission's GDACS system, from the Japan Meteorological Agency and from Indonesia's BMKG. Measurements additionally come from the global sea level network of IOC/UNESCO. National warning systems in Australia, India, Chile and other states publish no openly accessible data interface and are therefore missing. The absence of a bulletin on this page is therefore not a worldwide all-clear. Since October 2026, tsunami bulletins from PHIVOLCS (Philippines) and emergency alerts from NEMA (New Zealand) are included as well.

How are the data processed?

QuakeMap24 ingests structured official bulletins, groups related updates and links matching earthquake data. Tests are excluded. The successful retrieval and the time of the bulletin are shown separately. Arrival times and wave forecasts come exclusively from published NOAA products. In addition, QuakeMap24 de-tides raw tide gauge data and labels these measured waves as its own, non-official analysis. No inundation forecasts are calculated.
